We had an Apple Party last week since the apple trees are weighed down with apples this year! My friend Jen started out by leading the kids in an apple discussion. She had different size apples and compared the size, weight, feel (soft/hard), color. They sang a song about the “a” sound. They then read Ten Apples up on Top (she chose the board book version which was perfect for the attention span of the group). Then she had the kids try to put the apples up on top of their own heads. She finished by having the kids put the apples on top a box, under the box, behind the box, etc. We then went outside to do our apple prints, apple bobbing and apple tasting. Any of these ideas can be done with one kid at home or a group of kids!
